In a few days, I will present my second Budget as the Chancellor. My focus will be on aiding working families by addressing NHS waiting lists, reducing national debt, and lowering the cost of living. These align with both national priorities and my personal agenda.
Regarding NHS waiting lists, our commitment to revitalizing the NHS and ending prolonged patient waits is paramount. Tackling national debt is crucial to redirect funds from debt interest towards essential sectors like education, healthcare, law enforcement, and communities.
The emphasis on reducing the cost of living is driven by the financial strain experienced by households. Mitigating high prices, which disproportionately affect ordinary families, is a priority. Recognizing the economic challenges faced by working individuals, I aim to take decisive measures in the upcoming Budget to alleviate these pressures.
Actions have already been taken by the government to alleviate household burdens, such as freezing prescription charges and rail fares, implementing breakfast clubs in schools, and combating ticket scalping. These initiatives illustrate our commitment to easing everyday expenses, with further measures to be outlined in the Budget.
Our ability to address the cost of living stems from the economic stability we have restored and prudent spending practices. Efforts to combat waste, fraud, and unnecessary expenditures ensure optimal allocation of resources, whether in asylum support, public services, or welfare programs.
The forthcoming Budget is designed to benefit families directly, fostering a fairer, more resilient, and secure future for the nation.
