Luke Littler, known as ‘The Nuke,’ has confirmed his participation in the upcoming PDC World Youth Championship. He claimed victory at the World Grand Prix by defeating world No. 1 Luke Humphries with a score of 6-1 in the final held in Leicester.
This win marked Littler’s first title in his young yet successful career, adding another prestigious trophy to his collection. Eager for more success, the 18-year-old announced his intention to compete in the World Youth Championship starting in Wigan on Monday.
Having previously won the tournament in 2023 by defeating Gian van Veen in the final, Littler remains eligible to participate in the competition, which is open to players aged between 16 and 23, regardless of their ranking or achievements on the main PDC circuit.
Despite sitting out last year’s event, Littler expressed his excitement about joining the World Youth Championship this year, emphasizing his goal to have fun and give his best effort in the upcoming matches.
Fans took to social media to share their reactions to Littler’s decision to enter the tournament, with some expressing anticipation for the competition ahead. Notably, Littler now closely trails Humphries in the PDC Order of Merit, positioning himself to potentially claim the top spot in the rankings.
Reflecting on his recent victory at the World Grand Prix, Littler acknowledged the challenges he faced and expressed his determination to continue striving for success. He remains focused on his pursuit of the world No. 1 position, aiming to maintain pressure on the current leader, Luke Humphries.
