“Former Ghislaine Maxwell NYC Residence Hits Market at $17.75M”

Published on

Ghislaine Maxwell’s former residence in New York City has been put up for sale once again, with a substantial price tag attached. Situated on East 65th Street in the Upper East Side of NYC, the property was acquired by Manhattan real estate magnate Frederick Rudd for $15 million in 2016. Maxwell agreed to the purchase, which was $4 million below the initial asking price.

Following Mr. Rudd’s passing at the age of 70 last year, the five-story house is back on the market with an asking price of $17.75 million. The listing highlights the property as a “striking 1910 Beaux-Arts-style limestone and brick townhouse … located on one of Manhattan’s most desirable tree-lined streets.”

According to the New York Post, the listing does not explicitly mention Maxwell’s previous ownership, but it does mention that the mansion has undergone a full renovation. The property boasts high ceilings, two fireplaces, and white oak flooring, providing an elegant backdrop for sophisticated gatherings.

Maxwell, a disgraced British socialite, was gifted the house by a lawyer for Jeffrey Epstein in 2000. She frequently hosted private dinners, cocktail parties, and receptions at the residence, entertaining esteemed guests such as the president and first lady of Iceland, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and actress Kelly Rutherford.

News of the property re-entering the market coincided with exclusive images of Maxwell heading to a yoga class after being transferred to a new detention facility to serve her sentence. The transfer to a minimum-security prison in Texas violated US prison regulations regarding sex offenders. This move occurred shortly after she made positive remarks about Donald Trump’s association with Epstein.

One of Epstein’s victims criticized Maxwell’s preferential treatment, expressing outrage at her transfer to a more comfortable prison setting. Maxwell received a 20-year sentence in 2022 for aiding Epstein in the sexual abuse of underage girls. This conviction marked a victory for the survivors who had long sought justice against the pair.

Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019, was known to have sexually abused numerous underage girls with Maxwell’s assistance. While the sentence imposed on Maxwell was shorter than what prosecutors had sought, Epstein’s accusers found some solace in the pursuit of justice. Sarah Ransome, an Epstein victim, emphasized the prolonged journey to obtain justice for all survivors of Epstein’s heinous acts.
