“Diabetic Girl and Mom Removed from Flight Over Blood Sugar”

Published on

A mother and her daughter were asked to leave a Jet2 flight due to concerns over the daughter’s low blood sugar levels. Tessy Kelly-Hester, who has type 1 diabetes, experienced a slight drop in her blood sugar level to 3.6 before the flight. Despite the mother’s assurance of being able to manage her daughter’s condition, airline staff insisted that they leave the plane. The decision was made based on the advice of medical experts at MedAire. The mother and daughter had to stay at a nearby hotel before flying back home the next day with a different airline. Tessy expressed feeling isolated and upset by the incident, emphasizing the need for better understanding and support for individuals with similar medical conditions. Jet2 defended its actions, prioritizing the health and safety of passengers and advising customers to have appropriate travel insurance for unforeseen circumstances.
