A 21-year-old man named Lewis Gleave has been sentenced to four years in prison for a series of serious offenses involving sexual and physical assault, threatening with a gun, and inappropriate communication with a child. The incidents occurred over a near three-month period, during which he targeted multiple victims despite being under investigation for other offenses.
One incident involved Gleave making sexual comments towards a girl in public, attempting to hug her against her will, and physically assaulting a man who intervened. In a separate incident, he continued to target the same girl, assaulting her again and engaging in inappropriate behavior. Another incident captured on CCTV showed Gleave threatening a victim with what appeared to be a gun.
Following these incidents, Gleave was reported to have entered a property and assaulted two women before being arrested. He initially denied wrongdoing but later pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including assault, sexual assault, and possession of an imitation firearm.
In court, Gleave was sentenced to four years in prison and an additional three years on license, along with various restraining orders and requirements to register as a sex offender. Detective Constable Lydia Thompson described him as a dangerous offender who posed a risk to society, emphasizing the bravery of the victims in coming forward and securing the conviction. Thompson also assured that Gleave would be closely monitored upon release to prevent further harm to the victims.
